Tech Tuesday #10 – Mechanical Disconnect
In the tenth installment of our Tech Tuesday Series we take a bitesized look at what goes into the technology behind our battery tech, starting
Up to 10C discharge and 5C charge chemistry available. Our extensive cell selection process allows us to rigorously test hundreds of cell types and choose only the best, based on energy and power density, quality and safety standards.
Xerotherm liquid Thermal Management System (TMS) keeps battery cells at the optimum temperature, allowing for high charge and discharge rates without running into a thermal throttling. Our proprietary TMS extends the life, ensures safety and improves performance of Hibernium batteries.
We have limited wiring to the minimum, with our direct module interconnection. Our approach enables higher current delivery and improved reliability over traditional cable connectors.
Direct interconnection of the thermal system between modules and optimized parallel flow paths enable significantly increased flowrates resulting in lower cross-pack thermal gradients and equal performance and aging of the battery cells.
Hibernium battery packs offer access to the highest energy density cells commercially available today. With the chemistry agnostic design, our battery packs will always stay up to date with newest battery cell advancements.
When space is a constrain, Hibernium battery packs offer one of the highest packing densities available on the market with up to 200Wh/kg and 240Wh/l on pack level.
Hibernium packs can be stacked and connected in series or parallel, to deliver MWh system capacities, or fill the available space efficiently.
The optimized operating conditions of our battery cells helps to extend the cycle life of all Lithium Ion chemistries.
With constant monitoring of operating conditions by our BMS, the calendar life of Hibernium batteries far exceeds most application requirements.
Mechanical structure and mounting features are designed to withstand the harshest of off-road and industrial applications.

The risk of thermal propagation is virtually eliminated with Xerotech’s proprietary module design by using a specially engineered fire-retardant structural foam. It’s 85% lighter than solutions used by leading electric vehicle manufacturers. The combination of fire-retardant thermally insulating foam and an extremely conductive thermal management system results in a highly-robust and safe battery systems.
