The battery management system (BMS) logs all controller area network (CAN) data, such as fault events, on the cloud (via ODOS cloud device) to allow for future analysis and quick support. This is achieved by communicating to the cloud device on a Xerotech proprietary CAN 1 network.
Hibernium® batteries are equipped with telematics functionality. The BMS logs CAN data and transmits it to Xerotech via an ODOS cloud device. The telematics connection is required for remote support and during commissioning. There is no customer-facing interface available at this time.
Place the device in a vehicle cabin or where there is good 4G signal reception.
Please connect the ODOS device to the CAN network of the battery system. Please refer to the Communication Connector page for the correct pin reference.
Telematics connection depends on the architecture. Please select the correct architecture: single pack or parallel pack systems.
Single Pack Architecture #
OBD Pin | Signal Required | Function |
---|---|---|
6 | CAN_1_P | CAN-1 High connection (pin 29 of Communication Connector) |
14 | CAN_1_N | CAN-1 Low connection (pin 17 of Communication Connector) |
16 | 12V/24V | UBAT in from 12/24V Battery |
5 | GND | 12/24V Negative |
Parallel Architecture #
OBD Pin | Signal Required | Function |
---|---|---|
6 | CAN_1_P | CAN-3 High connection (pin 5 of Communication Connector) |
14 | CAN_1_N | CAN-3 Low connection (pin 4 of Communication Connector) |
16 | 12V/24V | UBAT in from 12/24V Battery |
5 | GND | 12/24V Negative |

Mating Connector Pinout

A 120 Ohm CAN termination should be fitted within 15cm of BMS LV connector on BMS CAN-1 network. A 120 Ohm CAN termination should be fitted within 15cm of the Cloud device (ODOS) on BMS CAN 1 network.
Diagnostics #
The below table denotes the LED color codes to diagnose the ODOS connection to the cloud.
Red LED Status | Orange LED Status (blinking) |
---|---|
Fixed Red (Orange blinking) = Run Mode Short red blinking every 2s = Idle Mode | 2000ms ON then 2000ms OFF = Cloud Connection OK / Fix GPS 50ms ON then 3950ms OFF = Cloud Connection OK / No GPS 2 times (50ms ON/100ms OFF) then 3700ms OFF = No Cloud Connection / Fix GPS 3 times (50ms ON/100ms OFF) then 3550ms OFF = No Cloud Connection / No GPS |
